Frequently Asked Questions
How do I set up an iLab account?
Go to iLab. Click the blue “sign up” button at the top right of the screen. Fill out the form with detailed information and submit. An account will be generated.
How much will it cost for a tumor model study?
Here is an example of the quote for a tumor model study.
If involving 30 mice, where we inject tumor cells SQ, measure the tumor growth 10 times, and collect tumors at the end of the study, it will cost $8,005.00 for Stanford users. The cost of mice and animal housing is separate.

What's the timeline for a tumor model study?
We strongly suggest you to have your animal protocol approved before you plan to start the in vivo experiment. The approval process could take upto 1.5-2 months. We can help if you don't have experience with writing animal protocols. You also need to get a PTA account to request services on iLab. If you are an external investigator, please contact us for a service agreement and you will need to issue a PO number.
For a typical xenograft study, it takes about 10 days to test the cell line for pathogen and mycoplasma. Cell growth, take rate and tumor growth in vivo vary among cell lines.
For imaging and irradiation service, it depends on the availability of the machine.
How do I apply a drug discovered from in vitro to in vivo for a tumor model study?
If there is no published data on half life or PK available, we will start with several levels of concentrations of the compound by IP injection to test the maximum tolerated dose based on the doses used in similar category of compounds. Then we can adjust the dose to find the concentration that works the best.
