Dr. Kebebew Receives DoD Grant

Dr. Electron Kebebew
Dr. Electron Kebebew has received a grant from the US Department of Defense (DoD) Rare Cancers Research Program. The more than $500,000 is funding will support his research project “Combination nitazoxanide and auranofin treatment for anaplastic thyroid cancer” over the next two years.
According to the NIH National Library of Medicine, anaplastic thyroid cancer is a highly aggressive form of thyroid cancer and one of the most deadly diseases worldwide. It accounts for only 2-3 percent of all thyroid gland neoplasms.
Kebebew is Chief of Stanford’s Division of General Surgery as well as Chief of the Endocrine Section.
