Our mission is to engage a community of scientific projects on the molecular and cellular basis of brain function and dysfunction in health and disease.

Scope and Goals

The Center for Molecular Neuroscience in Health and Disease (CMN) is a virtual center that aims to increase communication of molecular and translational neuroscience and to facilitate projects performed in and collaboratively between Stanford laboratories in molecular and translational neuroscience.

The specific goals of the Center are:

  • To facilitate fundamental research into the molecular mechanisms underlying brain function
  • To support molecular approaches to understanding and treating brain disorders
  • To catalyze communication and collaboration among Stanford laboratories pursuing molecularly oriented brain research
  • To create a forum for discussion between the Stanford scientific community, in particular early career researchers such as students, postdocs, and junior faculty, with the bay area biotech community
  • To interact with the general public on the results and implications of molecular brain research

Activities

The Center aims to organize community activities that range from science meetings to a shared blog and informal evening get-togethers with industry leaders and public events. The Center will not aim to establish a traditional seminar series or organize symposia (except for an initial kick-off meeting on April 20, 2018) because there is a rich offering at Stanford in these categories. Among planned Center activities are:
