Job Description

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Stuart Goodman in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University. The Goodman laboratory utilizes a comprehensive combination of mouse genetics, molecular and cell biology to study the following interests: 1. Tissue engineering and mesenchymal tissue/cell differentiation. 2. The biological aspects of the interface between orthopaedic implants/biomaterials and bone. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a strong background in cell and molecular biology, experience with mouse models and analysis of bone histology. The candidate will work on federally funded clinical projects and be responsible for performing animal surgeries, tissue collection, analyses using molecular and biochemical methods, bone histology and histomorphometry and write research protocols and manuscripts.

Requirements

PhDs in cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, tissue/bio engineer, or a related field. The candidate should have expertise in cell and molecular biology, and animal handling in addition to some of the following preferred laboratory techniques: tissue culture, virus transfection, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, bone histology and histomorphometry. The candidate is expected to have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication, teamwork, data processing, written and oral presentation and problem-solving skills are desired. English proficiency is required.
