Approaches
In addition to standard molecular and biochemical assays, we utilize several, in-house platforms to assess the real-time intracellular/mitochondrial response to injury during hypoxia, including:
- High-Resolution Respirometry: Oroboros Oxygraph2K
- Automated fluorescent assays: Tecan SparkTM 10M multimode plate reader
- Automated live-cell fluorescent imaging: Etaluma 620 and 720 lumascopes
Structured Illumination Microscopy
MBF Bioscience
NeurolucidaTM Software
Reliable co-localization, neuron tracing and reconstruction, neuron analysis, and 3D brain mapping
NeurolucidaTM 360
Automated neuron reconstruction in a 3-dimensional environment to obtain reliable data about the size, shape, and complexity of neurons.
In Vivo Models
Potential pre-clinical therapeutics are tested for efficacy in rodent models of cerebral ischemia, including transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and global forebrain ischemia. Pathohistology, neuroimaging and behavioral outcomes provide clinical measures of efficacy.
