FAQs

What are the size limits for Data Delivery?

Self-service extracts are currently limited to 7,500 patients.  If you require data extraction for larger list sizes, consult the Research Technology Data Services (formerly RIC) team.

DICOM image requests are limited to 10 accession numbers.

Why is my download working for a while and then failing?

The problem you’re seeing is probably due to the amount of time needed for your download.  There's no size limit on a download (as long as you have enough space on your device), but there is a time limit on how long a download can take.

Currently, the time limit is 30 minutes.

The time it takes to download your data depends on both the amount of data and the speed of your network connection.  Here are two suggestions if you cannot finish a download in the time allowed:

  1. Seek out a faster network connection.  For many of our users, an on-campus connection is significantly faster than a remote work-from-home connection.
  2. Split your extract into smaller pieces.  The time range feature is usually the easiest way to do this.  Breaking things up by years (or ranges of years) has worked well for many users.  Another approach is to break things up by data type.  Flowsheets and clinical notes can be voluminous, so doing them in separate extracts may help.
