Neurobehavior and Neuroscience Methods Workshop

June 1 through 5, 2026 at Stanford University

The Workshop is a one week-long, in person, interactive course on practical, mechanistic, and ethological aspects of rodent behavioral testing for translational research with emphasis on applications for drug discovery and neurodegenerative disease models.

The course is comprised of theoretical and technical lectures as well as hands-on testing trials and demonstrations. The overall goal of the course is to enable researchers with minimal or no rodent behavioral experience to independently design, conduct, and analyze behavioral pharmacology studies. Topics may include:

•Behavioral Tests for Learning & Memory, Sensory & Motor, Anxiety & Depression, Addiction

•Drug Administration Routes

•Stereotaxic Surgery, Brain Cannulation & Infusion

•Fiber Photometry

•Microdialysis

•Tissue Collection

•Whole Brain Clearing

•Immunostaining

This workshop is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as post docs, staff, and faculty from any university/research institute. Prior rodent handling experience is not required.
