LEARNING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES EXPAND FACULTY & STAFF SKILLS
NOVEMBER 2024
Certificate Programs. Workshops. One-on-One Mentorships. These are just a few of the offerings that the Spectrum CTSA Workforce Development team provides to Stanford faculty, staff, students, and scholars in all areas of clinical and translational research. These learning and professional development opportunities allow faculty and staff to update their skills, increase their knowledge base, and gain valuable experience. They include:
- Clinical Research Operations Program (On-going) (Open to Stanford affiliates only)
Offers 4 to 5 classes per month specific to clinical research involving human subjects. The goal of the program is to raise the quality of clinical research across Stanford and to enhance the career growth of clinical research personnel. - Essentials of Clinical Research (10 two-hours sessions, January 9 to March 13, 2025)
(Open to the general public; audience includes individuals from industry and other CTSA sites)
This course provides an overview of basic principles of clinical research design, including biostatistics, study design and interpretation of diagnostic and predictive test studies, and required and desired elements of clinical trial protocols. Participants will be introduced to the regulatory aspects of clinical research conduct and oversight, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles, and ethical dimensions of clinical research. - Intensive Course in Clinical Research (ICCR) (September 2025)
A one-week immersion course for novice clinical investigators, senior residents, fellows, and junior faculty (Assistant Professor and below from any faculty line) at Stanford. - Research Career Accelerator Program (ReCAP) (Meets monthly, January to December)
A monthly seminar series designed for Stanford junior faculty, fellows, and postdocs who are recipients of individual career development awards (CDAs) from the government (e.g., K awards) or from professional societies. ReCAP provides an opportunity for CDA awardees to interact with their peers in the School of Medicine community and to learn from senior faculty how best to position themselves for future success.
