Chapter of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD)

Description

The purpose of the Chapter of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD) is to advocate for inclusive health and equitable inclusion of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DDs) in the healthcare system. The chapter hosts events within the Stanford Medicine community to promote awareness and amplify the voices of people with I/DDs and will work to ensure everyone within the Stanford Medicine community is educated and empowered to not only provide high-quality care to people with I/DDs but also to serve as advocates/allies for the community. The chapter is also responsible for maintaining a partnership with Special Olympics Northern California through avenues such as Walking Club, volunteering at events, and including self-advocates to advise and join educational sessions for medical trainees.
