Zhang Yong, MD, PhD

Director, International Exchange Office, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine

Dr. Yong ZHANG is the Director of the International Exchange Office of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. He was the Deputy Director from September 2001 to Mars 2002 and became the Director in Mars 2002.

A graduate of Shanghai Second Medical University (the French Medical Class 1978 and the Clinic Medicine in 1983 ) , he earned M.D. degree at Shanghai Second Medical University (actually Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine) . He did his residency training in internal medicine in Ruijin hospital, Renjin hospital and 9th People hospital of Shanghai. He then worked as volunteer in Meknes hospital, Morocco from 1983 to 1985.

Dr Yong Zhang becan his career as a faculty member at Shanghai Second Medical University in 1985, where he worked as assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology for his research and teaching. His research has focused on the development of cholinergic antagonist and adrenergic agonist drug, that used in the asthma model of animal. He did his research as PhD student in the university in Paris (University of Paris Descartes), France from 1989 to 1991 (Master degree), and then 1995-1996 (PhD degree), he obtained the PhD diploma in 1996 at the University of Paris Descartes. He is the author or co-author of over 10 scientific papers.

Dr. Yong ZHANG teach undergraduate pharmacology as well as the French course in physiology for life science as associate professor since 1998 at Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.

Dr. Yong ZHANG is also the director of Centre de Formation medicale Sino-Français, the director of International Student Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.

He is the visiting professor of Ottawa University faculty of medicine, Canada.

He was nominated “Officier national de la Republique Française” by President of France in 2014.

A native of Shanghai, China, Dr. Yong ZHANG is married to Lingdi LIU, an engineer of mechanism. They have one child who is PhD student in US.
