SIMR- Summer 2026

  • The Summer 2026 Application deadline has passed (Feb. 21, 2026).  We cannot accept any applications at this point and we will not be able to respond to email requests about this.
  • Program Dates for Summer 2026: June 8- July 30, 2026 (8 weeks)

  • ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 
  • All three of the following requirements must be met (no exceptions):
  • 1) Students must currently be juniors or seniors (as of the fall of 2025) at the time of applying.  Students must be in the graduating class of 2026 or 2027.
  • 2) Students must also be 16 years old or older by the start date of the program (June 8th, 2026).
  • 3)  Students must currently be living in and attending high school in the U.S. AND must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a green card in order to apply.  We cannot provide any exceptions so please do not email about this.

  • We ask that you please be sure to check the Frequently Asked Questions page (using the link on the left hand panel) first before contacting us as many questions are answered there.

  • APPLICANTS:  PLEASE READ THE NOTES BELOW:                                                         
  • RECOMMENDATION LETTER GRACE PERIOD:  For the rec letter only, there is a grace period until Sat., Feb. 28th (11:59pm PST).  Students should still submit their application by the deadline-- Sat., Feb. 21st (11:59pm PST).  It is the responsibility of the student to follow up/confirm that the recommendation letter is submitted by the teacher.  You can check on your Slideroom application portal under the References tab on top.  On that page under the status section it should say "Completed on" and the date it was submitted by the teacher.
  • NO EDITS AFTER SUBMISSION- Please do not email about adding information, score reports, etc. to an application after it has been submitted.  We will not be able to respond to those emails.  Please try to submit your application early and do not wait until the last couple hours to submit your application.
  • FEE WAIVER REQUESTS: This can be made through a link found in the application.  The request made through a form must be submitted by Fri. Feb. 20th (5pm PST).
  • PROGRAM DATES:  The program dates are June 8- July 30th, 2026 (approx. 8 weeks).  For the lab-based program the schedule is Monday through Friday for the 8 weeks (5 days/week).  The schedule for the BioE Team Internship is 3 days a week (Mon./Wed./Fri.)
  • APPLICATION DECISIONS- Decisions will be emailed to all students on Friday, April 10th, 5pm PST.  We will not be able to respond to emails regarding decisions earlier than that.
