Visiting Students
Thank you for your interest in rotating at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley and for allowing our institution to become an important component to your learning success. While we welcome applications for away rotations, we accommodate limited numbers of visiting medical students, physician assistant students, residents, and fellows per year depending on our provider capacity.
For visiting medical students
We now accept applications for 2 to 4-week Family Medicine or Internal Medicine sub-I electives through the Stanford School of Medicine Registrar's Office Visiting Clerkships website. If you have found the Stanford Tri-Valley clerkship through the VSLO (Visiting Student Learning Opportunities), you still need to submit an application directly through the Stanford Visiting Clerkship website via the aforementioned link. We do NOT accept applications through VSLO. Please note that you must have completed your internal medicine or family medicine core elective prior to the start date of your rotation with our program.
The elective rotation is not a prerequisite for acceptance into the Tri-Valley Family medicine residency program, nor does it guarantee an interview during the residency application period. It is recommended for students who are interested in our program or want more exposure to family medicine or internal medicine in an academic community hospital setting.
For visiting PA students, NP students, residents/fellows
All external rotation requests require application and approval in advance and availability is extremely limited. Please complete the REQUIRED External Rotation Request form (link to the right) at least 12-16 weeks ahead of your desired rotation date. It is strongly recommended that you have a Tri-Valley preceptor arranged ahead of time.
Please note, an Education Affiliation Agreement is REQUIRED between your institution and SHC Tri-Valley. Please check with your institution to see if an agreement is in place or reach out to our team if you have questions.
