Visiting Students
Thank you for your interest in rotating at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley and for allowing our institution to become an important component to your learning success. While we welcome applications for away rotations, we accommodate limited numbers of visiting medical students, physician assistant students, residents, and fellows per year depending on our provider capacity.
For visiting medical students
Thank you for your interest in rotating at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. We now accept applications for a 4‑week Family Medicine (FAMMED324E) rotation through the Stanford School of Medicine Registrar's Office Visiting Clerkships website. Applications are submitted via the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program through AAMC. Please note that you must have completed your family medicine core elective prior to the start date of your rotation with our program.
The elective rotation is not a prerequisite for acceptance into the Stanford Health Care Tri‑Valley Family Medicine Residency Program, nor does it guarantee an interview during the residency application period. It is recommended for students who are interested in our program or want more exposure to family medicine in an academic community hospital setting. Currently, the Stanford Visiting Student Clerkship program is only able to accept students enrolled in a school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or Education Department of the American Osteopathic Association.
At this time, we are not accepting applications for the Internal Medicine (MED324E) rotation. Students are encouraged to check our website periodically for updates on availability.
For visiting PA students, NP students, residents/fellows
All external rotation requests require application and approval in advance and availability is extremely limited. Please complete the form linked here at least 12 weeks ahead of your desired rotation date. It is required that you have a SHC Tri-Valley preceptor arranged ahead of time since our education office cannot make preceptor arrangements.
Please note that an Education Affiliation Agreement is required between your institution and SHC Tri-Valley. Please check with your institution to see if an agreement is in place, or reach out to our team if you have questions.
Due to capacity issues, SHC Tri-Valley is not currently accepting visiting residents or fellows for clinical rotations.
