Service Committee

"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy."

Rabindranath Tagore
Nobel Prize in Literature, 1913

The Service Committee helps active and retired faculty find opportunities to volunteer their time, knowledge, and expertise to help communities locally and globally. Examples include providing or supervising patient care in low resource areas, education in implementing evidence-based care, and mentoring high school or college students from low-income communities. Contributing to social causes such as climate change and advocacy work could also be a focus for this committee. We welcome other thoughts and ideas for our faculty to "give back to society."

Service Opportunities

The Service Committee would like to promote service opportunities for our Senior Academy members. We have organized a list of potential partner organizations by medical volunteering; non-medical volunteering; and international medical volunteering. We encourage you to browse the list and connect directly with the contacts. We are also happy to address questions you may have.
