Committees

Education Committee

The Education Committee facilitates opportunities for our senior and retired faculty as teachers and learners. We will identify, develop, and implement strategies to remove barriers preventing retired faculty from participating in both formal and informal teaching and research activities, which are core to our mission. Furthermore, this committee endeavors to increase access for retired faculty to Stanford courses, classes, symposia, scientific talks, and libraries.

To learn more, please contact Ann Weinacker (annw@stanford.edu) and/or Christos Constantinou (ceconst@stanford.edu).

Intergenerational Mentoring Committee

The Intergenerational Mentoring Committee facilitates opportunities for senior and retired faculty to serve as mentors for individuals across all stages of their education and careers. This may include support for pre-college, undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, trainees, and early through late career faculty.

To learn more, please contact Elliot Krane (ekrane@stanford.edu) and/or Stephen Roth (sroth@stanford.edu).

Peer Networking and Social Engagement Committee

The Peer Networking and Social Engagement Committee provides virtual and in-person opportunities for networking and community building among Academy members. Opportunities might include luncheons (lightly facilitated with topics of interest), book clubs, outdoor experiences, gallery/museum visits, etc.

To learn more, please contact Christy Sandborg (sandborg@stanford.edu) and/or John Brock-Utne (brockutn@stanford.edu).

Service Committee

The Service Committee helps active and retired faculty find opportunities to volunteer their time, knowledge, and expertise to help communities locally and globally. Examples include providing or supervising patient care in low resource areas, education in implementing evidence-based care, and mentoring high school or college students from low-income communities. Contributing to social causes such as climate change and advocacy work could also be a focus for this committee. We welcome other thoughts and ideas for our faculty to "give back to society."

To learn more, please contact Kay Daniels (kdaniels@stanford.edu) and/or Nilima Ragavan (nragavan@stanford.edu).
