Susan Knox, MD, PhD, Named Associate Dean for Academic Advising

Dr. Susan Knox, Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, has been appointed the School of Medicine’s Associate Dean for Academic Advising.
Dr. Knox received her PhD from the University of California, Davis and MD degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. She was a post-doctoral fellow in medical oncology and completed residency training in radiation oncology at Stanford. She has been on the Stanford faculty since 1990.
Dr. Knox has served on numerous committees overseeing and advising on research topics at Stanford and nationally. She is also a past president of the Stanford Medical Alumni Association. In addition to her clinical responsibilities and running a basic science laboratory, Dr. Knox has served as an assistant dean for academic advising since 2002. Over this time period she has guided the career development of more than 300 MD and MD/PhD advisees at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Knox’s promotion acknowledges her expertise and success in advising students and guiding their careers. Among Dr. Knox’s responsibilities will be oversight of the academic advising deans, authorship of the Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE), and management of the residency match.
