Kawin Setsompop

Kawin Setsompop is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology. His research centers on the development of novel MRI acquisition methods for neuroimaging, with the goal of providing new technology to help better understand brain structure and function for applications in Healthcare and Health sciences. He received his Master’s degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University and his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.  Prior to joining Stanford, for the last decade, he led a vibrant research group at Harvard/MIT which pioneered a number of widely used MRI acquisition technologies in the clinical and neuroscientific fields. In particular, his blipped-CAIPI technology is an FDA-approved clinical product on Siemens, GE, and Philips scanners worldwide, and is the key technology for acquiring data in recent large-scale brain studies including the Human Connectome Project and the U.K. Bio-bank.
