Lauren Watkins RSL's newest Instructor
Lauren Watkins, PhD
Dr. Watkins returns to the Department of Radiology and Division of Musculoskeletal Imaging working with Garry Gold and Feliks Kogan. She earned her PhD in Bioengineering at Stanford University in 2021 during which time she was awarded the William K. Bowes Jr. Graduate Fellowship. Her graduate research focused on MRI and PET strategies for imaging joint structure and function related to knee osteoarthritis. She applied this background to her work as a Scientist at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, a nonprofit orthopedic research organization in Vail Colorado, where her research helped advance the role of medical imaging in patient care and in monitoring new treatments as part of clinical trials. As an Instructor, she plans to integrate imaging with biomechanics to understand and prevent musculoskeletal decline, with a vision of keeping people active.
