Dongwoon Hyun, Instructor
Dongwoon is an Instructor of Radiology/Pediatric Radiology and is a member of the Dahl lab at RSL. He received the B.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, in 2010 and 2017, after which he was a Research Engineer in the Stanford Ultrasound Imaging & Instrumentation Lab until 2021. His research develops new ultrasound imaging techniques that improve the quality and diagnostic value of ultrasound imaging at the point of care. Current research projects include ultrasound molecular imaging, ultrasound beamforming and image reconstruction with artificial intelligence, real-time software beamforming with high-performance computing, and image quality assessment. He was recently awarded an NIH K99 grant to develop a nondestructive contrast imaging technique based on deep learning to facilitate the clinical translation of ultrasound molecular imaging for early cancer detection.
