Dr. Bitton's MRI Guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery Article on JMRI Cover

Dec 2015

Dr. Rachelle Bitton's article "Improving Thermal Dose Accuracy in MR guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery (MRgFUS):  A Prior Baseline Method of Long Term Thermometry"  is featured on the cover of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  This article describes a novel method to address errors in MRI-based thermal dosimetry that can arise during long focused ultrasound treatments of soft tissue tumors.  It addresses a clinical need for improved accuracy of efficacy measures in MRgFUS of soft tumors, without significantly increasing procedure time.

Dr. Bitton received her PhD in from University of Southern California, and came to Stanford as an SCIT Post-doctoral Fellow.  She works with Profs. Kim Butts Pauly and Pejman Ghanouni.
