Wednesday, May 3rd 2023 - Biomechanical modeling lesson
In this two-part lesson, students will first construct a model from rulers, string and brads to help them understand how muscles move a joint. The students will then go outdoors to explore how forces act on their lower body as they move over a force plate.

SEED Program: “Predicting size my measuring rates of growth”
- Friday 03/24
- SEED volunteers taught a lesson on predicting future size by measuring rates of growth in a 6th grade classroom at Hoover Middle School. By measuring the rate at which graduated cylinders filled up with water using drip nozzles and predicting future volume, the students were able to apply the same principle to predict tumor growth in the next activity using PET/CT images. Students then used those predictions to determine if the patient’s tumor was big enough to need intervention.
