DoD Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Program
Idea Development Award
Amount of funding: Total costs budgeted for the entire period of performance will not exceed $500,000.
Purpose: The FY25 DMDRP IDA promotes new ideas that are still in the early stages of development and have the potential to yield impactful data and new avenues of investigation. This award supports conceptually innovative, high-risk/high-reward research that could lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate progress in improving outcomes for individuals with DMD. Applications should include a well-formulated, testable hypothesis based on strong scientific rationale.
Eligibility: Independent investigators - Faculty with PI eligibility and CE faculty (with an approved CE faculty PI waiver obtained through their RPM in RMG prior to the pre-application/letter of intent) may be the PI. See guidelines for definitions of Established and New Investigators.
Timeline:
Pre-Application (Letter of Intent) Deadline: July 25, 2025 via eBrap
Please include your RPM’s name as business official in the pre-application.
Institutional representative (RPM/RMG or CGO/OSR) Deadline: August 1, 2025
Application Submission Deadline: August 8, 2025 via grants.gov

Clinical/Translational Research Award
Amount of funding: Level 1 - Total costs budgeted for the entire period of performance will not exceed $910,000 or $1M for the Partnering PI Option.
Level 2 - Total costs budgeted for the entire period of performance will not exceed $1.75M or $1.9M for the Partnering PI Option.
Purpose: The FY25 DMDRP CTRA mechanism supports advanced translational research that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas in DMD research into clinical applications. Translational research may be defined as an integration of basic science and clinical observations. However, applicants should not view translational research as a one-way continuum from bench to bedside. The research plan must involve a reciprocal flow of ideas and information between applied and clinical research.
Eligibility: Independent investigators - Faculty with PI eligibility and CE faculty (with an approved CE faculty PI waiver obtained through their RPM in RMG prior to the pre-application/letter of intent) may be the PI.
