Research
Departments, Centers, and Institutes
The Stanford School of Medicine is home to almost 100 academic departments, centers, and institutes that foster a culture of collaboration and innovation in both basic science and clinical research and education. Departments serve as the primary governance units at the university, tasked with managing faculty, staff, financial and institutional-policy matters. Centers and Institutes are organizational structures created to facilitate interdisciplinary, cross-departmental, and inter-institutional collaboration in research and education.
Academic Profiles
Stanford Profiles is a searchable directory for connecting with faculty, graduate students, postdocs, and staff. Research publications are automatically uploaded to academics’ profiles each night and researchers with similar interests are highlighted to promote collaborations. There is also a tab for listing researcher interests and ongoing clinical trials.
