At Stanford Medicine, we believe that building a new cancer center is not just about expanding our capacity to meet the needs of cancer care and supporting innovative research, it's about fostering a collective spirit of community.

We are dedicated to ensuring that this project embodies our shared values and priorities.

Reimagining Cancer Innovation and Care

With cancer research and care a top priority, Stanford Medicine’s leaders are charting a bold course to redefine how we understand, prevent, and treat the disease.

The vision for Stanford Medicine’s new cancer center is to radically transform the field by bridging innovative research with high-touch, personalized patient care.

This facility will not just focus on treating patients but on setting new standards in cancer treatment, research, and education — all in one integrated space.

Engaging with Our Neighbors

Stanford Medicine has been leading a “Community First” approach over the past year. We have actively engaged with a variety of stakeholders to seek early input and feedback, ensuring that our plans resonate with community interests, address concerns, and advance a shared vision for a cancer center in Redwood City.

A key aspect of our updated project's vision is aligning on shared community values and emphasizing the importance of strengthening our long-standing collaborative relationships with the neighborhoods and the broader region. By fostering open dialogue and encouraging participation, we aim to create a plan that not only reimagines cancer innovation and care but also embodies the principles of being a good neighbor. This engagement allows us to integrate local insights into the design process, ensuring that the new buildings and facilities reflect the aspirations of those who live and work nearby, ultimately fostering an environment where both Stanford and the community can thrive together.

Redwood City Community Open Houses

Stanford Medicine hosted community open houses in October 2025 and February 2026 for residents of Redwood City, North Fair Oaks, and the surrounding region. We met with community members to share information about a potential cancer center in Redwood City and sought input to help Stanford Medicine develop a project that is informed by the community’s early input and interests.

Our project becomes better defined as we engage with local residents early in the process to gather valuable insights for a potential cancer center in Redwood City.
