Lynda Stuart
Lynda Stuart, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist with over 20 years of experience in immunology, global health, and product development. An advocate for leveraging cutting-edge technologies to solve the world’s toughest challenges, Stuart serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Fund for Science and Technology (FFST), a new private foundation focused on advancing the fields of artificial intelligence, bioscience, and the environment to create lasting impact that benefits people and the planet.
Stuart was previously Executive Director of the Institute for Protein Design (IPD) at the University of Washington School of Medicine, a research institute focused on AI-enabled protein design where she oversaw translational research, institute operations, and collaborations with corporate and foundation partners. Prior to this, she served as Vice President of Infectious Disease at BioNTech and Deputy Director, Global Health at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she oversaw the preclinical development of vaccines and antibody therapies targeting urgent global health issues. Notably, she led the foundation’s COVID-19 discovery and translational vaccine response efforts, managing a significant portfolio of SARS-CoV-2 and pan-coronavirus vaccine candidates.
Stuart earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Cambridge, medical degree from the University of London and her PhD in microbiological sciences and immunology from the University of Edinburgh and was a faculty member at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and affiliate of the Broad Institute. She is an affiliate professor at Benaroya Research Institute at Virgina Mason, a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovation and a member of the Science and Technology Expert Group of the 100 Days Mission.
