WMIC 2024 Awards
Michelle James, PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology, Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford (MIPS), received the Roger Tsien Award at the 2024 World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC).
The Roger Tsien award is given to an early-stage investigator at the level of assistant or associate professor who has made significant contributions to molecular imaging. Each year, a committee led by the World Molecular Imaging Society president, along with other members and past winners reviews nominations and selects winners based on their development and application of innovative molecular probes and chemistry for non-invasive imaging towards advancing the understanding of health and disease.
Renesmee Kuo, graduate student in MIPS, won the Young Investigator Award. Her work, titled, “ICOS immunoPET is a highly promising technique for monitoring anti-PD-1 and anti-CTLA-4 immunotherapies for metastatic brain cancer,” was chosen from over 750 submissions. This work was co-mentored by Michelle James, PhD, and Israt Alam, PhD, Senior Research Scientist in MIPS.
In addition, Renesmee Kuo also received a Women in Molecular Imaging Network Award, and was selected to the Ambassador for the USA. This is the second year in a row that the Ambassador for the USA has been a MIPS member.
