R. Brooke Jeffrey receives rare radiology “triple crown”

Dr. R. Brooke Jeffrey, professor of radiology, emeritus, has become the only radiologist in the world to receive the highest awards from all three major societies in his field, achieving a rare radiology "triple crown".

This year, the Society for Advanced Body Imaging (SABI) awarded Dr. Jeffrey their 2024 Gold Medal recognition, which honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of body imaging. Winners of the Gold Medal award demonstrate extraordinary leadership, innovation, and dedication to their work, helping advance the entire field forward.

In 2016, Dr. Jeffrey was awarded both the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) Gold Medal and a Lawrence A. Mack Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU).

The SAR Gold Medal is the highest award given by the society, recognizing exceptional contributions to abdominal radiology, medicine, and patient health, as well as a lifetime of commitment to the SAR mission and values.

The SRU Lawrence A. Mack Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed annually upon individuals to honor a career of outstanding achievements in ultrasound research.
