Research from Bhavik Patel MD, MBA, et. al., "Human–machine partnership with artificial intelligence for chest radiograph diagnosis", was featured on the cover of Nature Digital Medicine.
Investigators in this study used a novel collective intelligence technology, called swarm, that was designed to amplify the diagnostic accuracy of networked human groups by forming real-time systems modeled on biological swarms. They used this technology in combination with the current state-of-the-art deep learning technology to show that a human-machine partnership achieves superior diagnostic performance than either alone.
