Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford offers a 12-month ACGME-accredited fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine (RAAPM). This advanced postgraduate program offers fellows opportunities to train alongside world-renowned faculty in state-of-the-art facilities, treating a breadth of patients with a wide variety of clinical procedures and approaches. We are committed to providing a supportive educational experience with ample academic opportunities, to train future leaders in the field of RAAPM.

RAAPM fellows rotate through four hospitals including Stanford Hospital, Palo Alto VA Medical Center, Stanford Outpatient Surgery Center, and the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital

Elective

We offer fellows flexibility in elective choices. Prior rotations have included:

Global health (Rwanda, Tanzania, Guyana)
Obstetric anesthesia
Pediatric regional anesthesia
Research
POCUS
ASA Policy elective in Washington, D.C.

Didactics

The fellows have weekly didactics including journal clubs and simulations. They have an interdisciplinary 2-day POCUS/ FATE course taught by world experts. Over the course of the year, they help teach ultrasound and cadaver workshops for residents.
