Collaborating with Us
The Quantitative Sciences Unit (QSU) within the Section of Biostatistics serves as a home for the practice of data science with a primary mission of addressing questions that can impact human and public health.
QSU scientists additionally focus on the development of novel methods that arise in collaborations and that specifically facilitate the practice of data science.
Our specific activities include:
- Designing novel and robust studies to optimize interpretability
- Developing and applying innovative and modern statistical techniques
- Adhering to principles of rigor, reproducibility, reusability, and replicability
- Capturing, managing, and wrangling data securely and with purpose and empathy
- Creating user-friendly and accessible data resources
- Interpreting findings appropriately, inclusively, and intentionally
- Disseminating widely and with intentionality
- Mentoring diverse quantitative and non-quantitative scientists
QSU’s principles of collaboration ensure being mindful of:
- Impact of research to relevant communities
- Diversity of scientific teams
- Robust research designs
- Rigor, reproducibility, and transparency of methods
- Inclusion of relevant communities on the research team
- Accessibility of findings to relevant communities
- Training and mentorship of diverse individuals
