The Fellowship Experience

Welcome to the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship!

The fellowship program in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University offers fellows unique opportunities to develop into outstanding clinicians, physician-scientists, and future leaders in academic medicine. Our hospital offers brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, where fellows gain hands-on experience to a wide range of pulmonary and critical care medicine and experience the superb clinical and research mentorship of our outstanding faculty.

Stanford Hospital encompasses both a world-renowned research institution as well as a leading-edge tertiary and quaternary care referral center and Level 1 trauma center. Fellows are afforded opportunities to engage in cutting edge clinical and translational research while simultaneously mastering the clinical practice of subspecialty pulmonary medicine. Our program offers exposure to a wide array of pulmonary and critical care medicine, including centers of excellence in lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, as well as NIH-funded research programs in asthma & allergy, interstitial lung diseases, and ARDS. 

Fellows are integral members of our clinical and research teams, and are exposed to a wealth of opportunities throughout their fellowship experience. Fellows interested in careers in basic science and translational research are provided opportunities to extend their training through participation in our T32 program. 

Our Division is committed to working with each fellow to develop an individualized educational plan to enable them to achieve their full career potential. We are continually improving and refining our educational opportunities to promote a culture of diversity, inclusivity, and academic excellence. 

Upon completion of our program fellows are equipped with the clinical and research skills to pursue a career as a leader in academic medicine in their chosen field.
