Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

We will be participating in the NRMP and ERAS programs in 2023 for our 2024-2025 fellowship positions, and will be accepting applications through August 31, 2023.

"In alignment with the Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD), our national professional society, and to ensure a uniform interview process that is equitable to all applicants, our fellowship interviews for applicants in 2023-2024 will be held exclusively virtually. Important Dates 

July 19, 2023 ERAS allows programs to view applications
Augsut 31, 2023 Application deadline
September 8, 2023 Interview start date (Interview days are Fridays)
October 20, 2023 Last day for interviews

Qualifications: Completed three years of ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and be IM board eligible. Graduates from medical schools outside the U.S.  must be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). For information regarding Stanford's visa requirements, please visit our GME Website.

Please submit the required documents through ERAS only:

  1. Current CV
  2. Copy of Dean's Letter
  3. Copy of Medical School Transcript and Certificate
  4. At least 3 original letters of recommendation. Please include a letter from director of residency program.
  5. Copies of actual USMLE scores
  6. ECFMG certificate, if applicable
  7. Translations of any of the above listed items from FMGs.
  8. Recent Photograph
  9. Visa Status. At this time, we are only able to sponsor J1 visas. 


Information for International Medical Graduates

Stanford Hospital and Clinics uses the J-1 visa program sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Stanford does not sponsor H-1B visas for graduates of international medical schools. Graduates of Canadian medical schools must also use the J-1 program.

ECFMG requires applicants to pay the application fee through ECFMG’s On-line Applicant Status and Information System (OASIS), which can be accessed through the ECFMG website at Please note that the J-1 sponsorship application fee is non-refundable.
