Women in Medicine: Hui Qi Tong, PhD
During September, we proudly feature members of our department for Women in Medicine Month!
I pursued a career in medicine:
to help alleviate suffering.
My work focuses on:
Mindfulness, self-compassion and wellness
What is the most fulfilling part of your work?
While serving my clients, I am also nourishing myself
What advice would you give yourself when you started in the field, knowing what you know now?
I would have told myself that mindfulness and self-compassion practices should be on the top of my priority list. Self-care is not selfish and a waste of time, but an act of love. Loving the self is truly loving the world.

Women in Medicine
We asked some of the #StanfordWIM in our department to share their stories - why they pursued a career in medicine, what their work focuses on, what the most fulfilling parts of their work are, and what advice they would give themselves when they started in the field. Hear what they have to say!
