Women in Medicine: Heather J. Gotham, PhD

During September, we proudly feature members of our department for Women in Medicine Month!

What is your work focused on?

I'm passionate about increasing access to effective behavioral health screening and treatment. My work focuses on how best to help health and behavioral health providers use evidence-based mental health and addiction treatment practices and change systems toward more effective care.

What is the most fulfilling part of your work?

Seeing the spark of insight when a health or behavioral health provider feels more confident to screen and intervene effectively with people with mental health and/or substance use issues.

Women in Medicine

We asked some of the #StanfordWIM in our department to share their stories - why they pursued a career in medicine, what their work focuses on, what the most fulfilling parts of their work are, and what advice they would give themselves when they started in the field. Hear what they have to say!
