Wei Gu, MD, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Pathology at Stanford University was trained as a physician, engineer, and scientist. He is a leader and pioneered new technologies in cell-free DNA 'liquid biopsy' diagnostics, microfluidics, and clinical metagenomic sequencing across diverse fields, including prenatal diagnostics, infectious disease, metagenomics, oncology, CRISPR diagnostics, and COVID diagnostics. His research group seeks to maximize the diagnostic potential from this data obtained through minimally invasive or non-invasive sampling. We will engineer the necessary tools to digitize nucleic acids into useful diagnostic content. He has been awarded multiple extramural grants, including the Burroughs Wellcome Career Award, and a K08 from the National Cancer Institute. He is also a board-certified molecular and clinical pathologist and has a clinical practice within Stanford Healthcare.
