Bio
Dr. Daugherty is a board-certified, fellowship-trained transplant hepatologist and medical director of Stanford Health Care’s Liver Transplant Program. She is also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Daugherty specializes in providing the full spectrum of liver transplantation care, from pre-transplant evaluation and management to ongoing post-transplant care. Her expertise includes dual-organ transplants and adult liver diseases associated with congenital heart conditions. Dr. Daugherty is a leader in providing hepatology services to remote areas of California and Nevada. She’s also passionate about empowering patients and families to be active participants in their care.
Dr. Daugherty’s research interests include heart-liver transplantation and alcohol-related liver conditions. She also studies liver diseases associated with the Fontan procedure, an operation used to treat people born with congenital heart disease.
Dr. Daugherty has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Hepatology and Transplantation. In 2022, she participated in a consensus conference to establish eligibility criteria for combined heart-liver transplant procedures. The conference findings were published in the American Journal of Transplantation.
Dr. Daugherty is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Society of Transplantation, and the European Association for the Study of the Liver.
