Bio
Sierra is a 6th year PhD Student at Stanford University in the department of Genetics. In Ami Bhatt's lab, she has worked to characterize the hidden features of bacterial genomes, including small proteins, noncoding RNAs, and mobile genetic elements. In particular, her work has focused on understanding the role of sRNA 84 in Enterococcus faecalis and colonization of the gut microbiome.
Interests: gene regulation; sRNA; microbiome; ESKAPE pathogens; antibiotic resistance; microbe-host or phage-host interactions;
Skills: transcriptomics; microbial genetics; genomics; antibiotic sensitivity testing; biofilm and phenotypic assays;
