My teams' interests are in improving patient safety, harnessing implementation science and medical simulation techniques for training, development, dissemination, implementation and study of these processes. We collaborate nationally and globally on implementation of emergency manuals (context relevant sets of cognitive aids or crisis checklists), for management of crises and freely share team training resources. Our laboratory is active in the study of human performance of medical personnel. We are actively involved in teaching health care personnel the techniques of crisis resource management (CRM) using realistic simulation. Research on sleep deprivation and fatigue and the performance of health care personnel is also an active area of study.
