Paul Bollyky
Associate Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and of Microbiology and Immunology
Clinical Focus
Infectious Disease, Wound infections, Microbial biofilms, Diabetic wounds, Chronic skin and lung infections, Chronic bacterial infections
Research Interests
Chronic bacterial infections are a major health care problem. Our lab is interested in understanding the host and microbial factors that perpetuate chronic infections and in developing novel therapeutic interventions to improve human health.

Carol Conrad
Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Pulmonary Medicine)
Clinical Focus
Pulmonary Medicine/Cystic Fibrosis, Pediatric, Lung Transplantation, Heart-Lung Transplantation, Lung Inflammation, Interstitial Lung Disease in Children, Pediatric Pulmonology
Research Interests
I am interested in studying the effects of inflammation in the lung, in particular, how N-acetylcysteine may affect and decrease that in CF patients. I am the PI of a multi-center study researching this question. Additionally, in a separate study involving children who have received lung transplants, I am a participating site in an NIH-sponsored observational and mechanistic multi-center study that will examine the role of viral infections in causing chronic graft rejection.

Carlos Milla
Professor of Pediatrics (Pulmonary Medicine) and, by courtesy, of Medicine (Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine)
Clinical Focus
Cystic Fibrosis, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Pulmonary Hypertension, Rare Lung Diseases, Pediatric Lung and Heart-Lung Transplantation, Pediatric Pulmonary
Research Interests
At Stanford University I developed and currently direct the CF Translational Research Center. The overarching goal of the center is to provide the groundwork to streamline, accelerate, and promote the translation of basic discoveries into effective therapies and interventions to benefit patients affected by cystic fibrosis. My laboratory group currently has three main lines of investigation: respiratory cell biology in CF; remote biochemical monitoring; and lung physiology in young children.
