Bio My research focuses on liver diseases. I got my Ph.D. degree in virology and immune response at Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The two main projects during my Ph.D. program are: 1) explore the relationship between the immune response in Hepatitis C virus infection and Interferon treatment; and 2) investigate the function of ECM1 in liver fibrosis. As a postdoc in Stanford, I will try to integrate basic and translational liver research and focus on: 1) investigate molecular functions of liver immune cells in liver disease; 2) explore key factors determining the change of liver microenvironment that cause liver diseases; 3) use new techniques, such as next-generation sequencing, RNAseq or signal cell sequencing, to explore key factors affecting liver disease and treatment in patients.

Bio My overall research interests are liver biology, pathology, and therapeutics. The medical education in China has provided me a comprehensive perspective of human disease and treatment. As a graduate student in University of Kansas Medical Center, I gained expertise in using transgenic mouse models to study autophagy in adipose-liver axis, liver lipid metabolism, and xenobiotic-induced liver steatosis and injury. As a postdoc my current research in Stanford University focuses on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Postdoctoral Medical Fellow, Gastroenterology
Bio My interest in medicine and research was triggered by my mother?s battle with chronic hepatitis C, which made me realize the transformational power of biomedical research in treating patients. Therefore, my career goal is to become a physician scientist in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology dedicated to translating discoveries in the laboratory into novel medical treatment modalities. My research focus is alterations in phosphoinositides signaling and its pathogenesis in cancers of the hepatobiliary and luminal GI tract with the goal to identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention. I also have a particular interest in understanding the interface between chronic viral infection and cancer through studying how the innate and adaptive immune system are perturbed in chronic viral infections
