Bio
Jeffrey Dunn, MD is Professor of Clinical Neurology and Chief of Neuroimmunology in the Department of Neurology at Stanford University. He specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and research of immune-mediated diseases of the central nervous system, including Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromyelitis Optica and transverse myelitis. Dr. Dunn is the founder of the Stanford Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center, the Stanford Clinical Neuroimmunology Fellowship training program, and is regarded as among the the foundational leaders in the emerging subspecialty of Neuroimmunology. He is the past Chair of the MS Section of the American Academy of Neurology and an invited member of the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. Dr. Dunn has served as Principal Investigator in more than 30 clinical trials pertaining to the immunopathology and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. His research employs a translational interdisciplinary collaborative with Stanford bench science to identify potential biomarkers of disease status and candidate therapeutic targets within the contextual paradigm of precision medicine. With co-inventors he is a US patent holder for a marker of MS treatment response. He has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts. Dr. Dunn has been recognized for excellence in clinical teaching: as an 11 time awardee for excellence in Neurology Clerkship teaching, as a two time winner of the Arthur Bloomfield Award for excellence in clinical teaching, with the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching, the Lysia Forno Award for excellence in teaching Neurology residents, and the A.B. Baker prize for teaching excellence from the American Academy of Neurology. In recognition of dedication to medical teaching, his name has been given to the eponymous Fishers-Dunn Prize, awarded annually to best medical student teaching among active Neurology residents.
