Bio
Dr. Michael Iv received his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and fellowship training in neuroradiology at Stanford University. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology.
Dr. Iv is a neuroradiologist and physician-scientist whose research focuses on the development and clinical translation of advanced neuroimaging techniques for patients with brain tumors. His work leverages advanced MRI methods, quantitative imaging, and artificial intelligence-enhanced analytic approaches to characterize the tumor microenvironment, improve diagnostic accuracy, and enable more precise assessment of treatment response. His research interests include perfusion imaging, ferumoxytol-enhanced MRI, radiomics, machine learning, and quantitative imaging approaches for differentiating tumor progression from treatment-related effects.
As Director of Clinical and Translational Research for the Department of Radiology and Director of Brain Tumor Imaging at the Stanford Brain Tumor Center, Dr. Iv leads multidisciplinary research efforts that bridge imaging science, neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, and pathology. His work has been supported by multiple intramural and extramural funding sources, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research Scholar Grant and the Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research Grant.
Dr. Iv has authored several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of neuro-oncology imaging. He served as co-editor of the two-volume reference work *Glioblastoma: State-of-the-Art Clinical Neuroimaging* and is the author of *Neuroradiology Q&A for the Radiology Boards*. His ongoing efforts are focused on developing clinically actionable imaging biomarkers that improve diagnosis, guide treatment decisions, and advance precision medicine for patients with brain tumors.
