My research is focused on disorders of human feeding including the eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. Ongoing or recently completed studies include: A controlled trial of the implementation of interpersonal psychotherapy for eating disorders and depression on college campuses across the U.S. A multisite controlled study of two types of family therapy for the treatment of adolescent anorexia nervosa. Early prevemtion of overweight and obesity.

Research Interests
My research interests have focused on the neural bases of eating disorders. I am particularly interested in the way emotion and reward is processed in the brain and how that may contribute to eating behavior and food restriction. I hope to eventually translate biological research findings into treatments.

My main areas of research interest currently include optimizing clinical informatics solutions for those with non-English preferred languages and improving interoperability between health systems, public health and community partners for pediatric patients and families.

Research Interests
Dr. Fortmann's interests include population-level (community) prevention of cardiovascular disease, the epidemiology and prevention of chronic diseases, and the effects of the built environment on health. He has conducted research projects addressing tobacco use cessation, tobacco control policy, the role of retail marketing on youth tobacco use, nutrition education, blood pressure control, and lipid disorders.

My research has focused on the medical complications of adolescents with eating disorders. My specific area of study has been the etiology and implications of amenorrhea in adolescents with eating disorders, in particular the management of reduced bone mass and osteoporosis in anorexia nervosa.

Research Interests
Dr Hammer has had a longstanding interest in factors influencing the development of childhood obesity. In particular, his studies have focused on early determinants of eating behavior, physical activity, and parenting behavior in relation to early feeding decisions and parental influences on diet and eating. With the current epidemic of child obesity and it's comorbidities, he is currently involved in the development of protocols for adolescent bariatric surgery.
