Bio Throughout my scientific training, I have focused on building an interdisciplinary background in molecular parasitology, biochemistry, immunology, and public health to provide me with the skills needed to pursue development of a successful malaria vaccine. My PhD research at Harvard centered on understanding immune responses to the developing transmission stages of malaria. By providing the first evidence for natural immunity to immature transmission stages, this work supports interrupting development and maturation of these parasites as a novel approach to transmission-blocking vaccine design. During my postdoctoral fellowship and in the future, I hope to continue researching host-pathogen interactions with applications to malaria vaccine development, while also being involved in global health work in the field. Currently my work focuses on understanding mechanisms of natural immunity to malaria and immune tolerance, particularly in the context of gamma delta T cell and monocyte responses.

Current Research and Scholarly Interests Studying the host-microbiome relationship in very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease via microbial DNA sequencing and analysis. Evaluating expression of antimicrobial peptides and other immune mediators in human stool via mass spectrometry in collaboration with the Elisa lab on campus. Another project focuses on the gut and skin microbiome in children with severe acute malnutrition in Bangladesh (in collaboration with Gary Darmstadt).

Bio I am a postdoctoral research fellow focusing on infectious disease epidemiology, specifically tuberculosis, in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine under Dr. Jason Andrews. My research focuses on deriving and validating meaningful and effective interventions to diagnose and prevent pediatric tuberculosis, furthering our understanding of tuberculosis transmission dynamics in high-burden settings, and advocating for the implementation of effective health policy in low-income communities with a high tuberculosis burden.
