Amy Ladd, MD
Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Hand Surgery) and, by courtesy, of Medicine (Immunology & Rheumatology) at the Stanford University Medical Center
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Research Interests
1. The kinematics and forces associated with thumb carpometcarpal (CMC) function and pathology
2. The anatomy, microstructure, and immunofluorescent characteristics of the thumb CMC joint
3. Pathomechaniics of CMC arthritis: biomechanical wear, injury, genetic, and environmental causes
4. Archiving, vitalizing, and innovating medical and surgical knowledge, most recently with innovative iBook monographs
Professor of Medicine (Nephrology) at the Stanford University Medical Center
Current Research and Scholarly Interests We are continuing to grow a glomerulonephritis cohort study, including immunologic characterization. We have completed interventional studies of preeclampsia exploring the nitric oxide, endothelin system and effects on glomerular function and morphometry. We continue to recruit patients for treatment and observational studies of glomerular disease, including FSGS, membranous and particularly IgA nephropathy. We also are actively studying renal disease in systemic amyloidosis.
Professor of Radiology (General Radiology) and of Medicine (Biomedical Informatics Research) at the Stanford University Medical Center
Current Research and Scholarly Interests I am interested in improving the accuracy and reliability of image interpretation. My research uses machine learning techniques for automated analysis of clinical images. My laboratory also is developing systems and standards to facilitate structured data capture during routine image interpretation. And we are developing natural language processing methods to extract concepts from the narrative text that remains a part of the radiology report.
Ginna G. Laport
Professor of Medicine (Blood and Marrow Transplantation) at the Stanford University Medical Center
Current Research and Scholarly Interests haploidentical transplantation, follicular lymphoma, adoptive immunotherapy, supportive care
Professor of Medicine (Family and Community Medicine) at the Stanford University Medical Center, Emeritus
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Physician-patient communication; cross cultural dimensions of health care; strategies for health maintenance and promotion; integrative medicine.
David Lee, MD
Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) at the Stanford University Medical Center
Current Research and Scholarly Interests 1. Novel treatments and devices for the treatment of vaulvular disease
2. Alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
3. Novel approaches to coronary revascularization
4. Closure devices for atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovale
Associate Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology) and, by courtesy, of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology) at the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Health Care System
Current Research and Scholarly Interests I am an endocrinologist & clinical investigator. My group studies disease prevention, outcomes & clinical impact of hormonal/metabolic perturbations (e.g. from environmental exposures & interactions with molecular/other factors) & clinical therapies. These interests cut across multiple complex chronic diseases, the aging process, & critical lifespan stages; we aim to use novel molecular epi, 'big' data, & new technologies for better insights to etiology & enhanced health services & delivery.
