Laura K. Bachrach
Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology) at the Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital, Emerita
Clinical Focus
Endocrinology/Diabetes, Pediatric, osteoporosis, Pediatric Endocrinology
Research Interests
Prevention of osteoporosis begins in childhood and adolescence by measures that maximize acquistion of bone mineral during the critical adolescent years. Body mass, calcium nutriture, physical activity, growth and sex steroid hormones, and genetic factors are all thought to be important determinants of bone mass although the relative contribution of each remains controversial.

Sandip Biswal, MD
Associate Professor of Radiology (Musculoskeletal Imaging)
Clinical Focus
Diagnostic Radiology, Radiology, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Musculoskeletal Interventional Procedures, Clinical Trials, Positron Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET/MRI), Pain Imaging Diagnostics
Research Interests
The management of individuals suffering from chronic pain is unfortunately limited by poor diagnostic tests and therapies. Our research group is interested in 'imaging pain' by using novel imaging techniques to study peripheral nociception and inflammation with the goal of accurately identifying the location of pain generators. We are developing new approaches with positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (PET/MRI) and are currently in clinical trials.

Bruce Daniel
Professor of Radiology (Body Imaging) and, by courtesy, of Bioengineering
Clinical Focus
Diagnostic Radiology, Radiology
Research Interests
1. MRI of Breast Cancer, particularly new techniques. Currently being explored are techniques including ultra high spatial resolution MRI and contrast-agent-free detection of breast tumors.
2. MRI-guided interventions, especially MRI-compatible remote manipulation and haptics
3. Medical Mixed Reality. Currently being explored are methods of fusing patients and their images to potentially improve breast conserving surgery, and other conditions.

Sabra Djomehri
Postdoctoral Scholar, Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine
Research Interests
My passion is translating bioinformatics integrative workflows and engineering platforms from multi-omics data to better discovery of new therapies. Experienced in statistical analyses and mathematical modeling early in my career and currently working on single-cell sequencing analyses (scRNA-seq), genomics (WES), and epigenomics (targeted chromatin ligation), data integration methods, and algorithm development.

Sarah E. Dubner
Instructor, Pediatrics
Clinical Focus
Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, Neonatology, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics
Research Interests
Dr. Dubner seeks to understand how early-life experiences impact children's developing brain connections in order to design interventions to promote healthy developmental trajectories. Current projects include 1. perinatal inflammation in brain white matter microstructure and neurodevelopmental outcomes in children born preterm, and 2. parental social network interventions to promote language health in children at risk for language delays.
