Research Interests
From a clinical standpoint, I am particularly focused in the care of patients with myositis or systemic sclerosis. We offer clinical trials, including novel, cutting-edge cellular-based (e.g. chimeric antigen receptor, or, CAR T) therapies for these diseases. We are particularly interested in understanding the role of auto antigens in providing windows into disease pathogenesis, as well as their potential direct role of autoantibodies in causing disease.

Research Interests
My research focuses on the physiolgogic and biomarker characteristics of early acute lung injury (ALI) prior to need for mechanical ventilation. While, to date no pharmacologic treatment has improved survival in ALI, following the paradigm of early goal directed therapy for severe sepsis, clinical benefit may derive from identifying patients and initiating treatment prior to the need for positive pressure ventilation (and therefore prior to meeting current study entry criteria).

Interested in echocardiography, right heart failure, and heart transplantation with a focus on phenotyping donor heart function and remodeling to improve recipient outcomes byt developing better tools for donor-recipient size matching and selection. Developing novel machine learning algorithms to aid this process in real-time to improve heart transplantation outcomes.

We use field, laboratory, and computational approaches and our work ranges from basic epidemiologic and risk-factor studies to serologic surveys to developing new data collection tools and pathways.
