Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine

Bio Dr. Jarrahi is a brain researcher who combines an extensive knowledge of neuroimaging data analysis techniques with expertise in engineering to study morphology, function and neuroplasticity of the human brain in health and disease. She graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering degrees. She also holds BA degrees with honors in Brain Science, Mathematics and Chemistry as a double major. After working at the Charles River Discovery and Imaging Services (USA), and Max-Planck-Institut für biologische Kybernetik (Germany), she earned a Doctor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Information technology from ETH and a graduate certificate in neuroscience from Universität Zürich. Dr. Jarrahi went on to complete a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuroimaging at UCLA before joining Stanford. Dr. Jarrahi is a recipient of 2019 Future Leaders in Pain Research grant to study how pain medications impact brain. She is particularly interested in using her quantitative skills to develop imaging tools to have clinical application. In addition, she has a long-standing interest in studying human interoception to delineate how consciousness emerges.
