Bio Dr. Donahue is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with Subspecialty Certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is fellowship trained and specializes in Arthroscopic and Minimally Invasive Reconstructive Surgery of the Shoulder and Knee, and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Donahue received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at St. Luke?s-Roosevelt Hospital Center (NYC), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (NYC), and the Alfred I. duPont Institute (DE), and went on to a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Stanford/SOAR Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
Dr. Donahue?s interests include arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee. He specializes in anterior cruciate ligament injuries, shoulder instability, and rotator cuff tears. He has done research on both shoulder instability and rotator cuff tears and has developed new techniques and medical devices for rotator cuff and all soft tissue repairs. He has started and actively serves on the medical advisory board for several surgical device companies and continues to design new surgical devices for arthroscopic procedures. He has authored several device patents and journal articles.
Dr. Donahue has been a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, the California Orthopedic Association, The International Knee Society, the California Medical Association, and the Santa Clara Medical Society.
Dr. Donahue has served as the Program Director of the SOAR Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. He has served as the Director of Santa Clara University?s Sports Medicine Program and the Head Team Physician for all of Santa Clara University?s athletic teams, a team physician for the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, the Stanford Athletic Department, and many other area collegiate and high school teams. -

Joseph Donnelly, MD

Bio Dr. Donnelly is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty board certification in orthopaedic sports medicine. He is the medical director of Sports Medicine and the vice chief of Orthopaedics for Stanford Health Care ? ValleyCare . He is also a clinical assistant professor at Stanford University School of Medicine.
As a clinician, Dr. Donnelly delivers comprehensive prevention and treatment strategies for sports-related orthopaedic trauma. He specializes in the arthroscopic treatment of disorders of the shoulder and knee. He provides particular expertise in minimally invasive and tissue-sparing surgery such as all-inside ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic fixation of shoulder rotator cuff tears.
He has extensive experience providing game coverage and athletic trainer support for teams including the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball as well as high school and college teams. He also has made numerous presentations to educate the community regarding prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries in athletes. -
Lane F Donnelly MD

Bio Lane F. Donnelly MD is currently Chief Quality Officer and Christopher G. Dawes Endowed Director of Quality at Lucile Packard Children?s Hospital and Stanford Children?s Health. He is also a Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics and the Associate Dean, Maternal and Child Health (Quality and Safety) in the School of Medicine at Stanford University. He also serves as the Co-Executive Director of Stanford Medicine Center for Improvement.
Dr. Donnelly has been an NIH funded researcher, has published 278 peer review manuscripts that have been cited over 10,000 times and has authored multiple textbooks, including Pediatric Imaging: The Fundamentals, a lead selling text book on pediatric imaging. Many improvement projects for which he was a contributor have received multiple national recognitions including International Quality Radiology Network?s Quality-Improvement in Radiology Practices Paper Competition: Annual Award 2008 (Paper of the Year); Caffey Award ? for Outstanding Presented Paper, Society for Pediatric Radiology (2001, 2009, 2011); 2012 British Medical Association Book Awards; Singleton?Taybi Award for Lifetime Achievements in Education, Society for Pediatric Radiology (2009); Journal of the America College of Radiology 2018 Paper of the Year Award; and the 2009 Best Scientific Paper Award - Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the RSNA Honored Educator Award (2019). Dr. Donnelly has served on the Board of Trustees for both the American Board of Radiology and the Society for Pediatric Radiology.
Former Leadership positions include Radiologist-in-Chief and Frederic N. Silverman Chair of Pediatric Radiology as well as Executive Cabinet member at Cincinnati Children?s Hospital Medical Center (2002-2011); Inaugural Chief Medical Officer / Physician-in-Chief at the Nemours Children?s Hospital (helping plan, staff, and open the greenfield hospital in 2012) and Enterprise Vice President as well as Enterprise Radiologist-in-Chief for the Nemours Foundation (2011-2015); and Chief Quality Officer for Hospital Based Services at Texas Children?s Hospital (2015-2017). Bio I am a faculty member in Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford and board-certified internal medicine and clinical informatics. I split my time between clinical practice, hospital medical informatics and applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare. I work with the Clinical Excellence Research Center ? a research group dedicated to reducing the cost of high-quality care ? directing the Partnership in AI collaboration with the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab. Recognizing that the complexity of medicine has grown beyond the abilities of even the most expert clinician, we focus applications of computer vision to address some of the greatest challenges in healthcare: perfecting intended care for frail patients in settings ranging from the intensive care unit to the home. I have published work in the New England Journal of Medicine, Health Affairs, Annals of Internal Medicine, and the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. My interests include a design-based approach to understand how technology has impacted the work of clinicians and implications for new care models, workflow, and technology integration.

At Stanford she has specialized in cardiopulmonary medicine, previously caring for patients with pulmonary hypertension and chronic right heart failure, with a current focus on cardiovascular disease and interventional/structural procedures.

Bio Lauren Drag, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor(Affiliated) in the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. She received her bachelor?s degree from Pomona College and a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Arizona. Dr. Drag is board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
She completed a clinical internship in neuropsychology at the VA Ann Arbor Medical Center and a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of Michigan Healthcare System. Prior to coming to Stanford, she was a researcher at the VA Palo Alto Medical Center and served as Director of the Neuropsychology Area of Emphasis at Palo Alto University. Current Research and Scholarly Interests My lab?s research focuses on computational biology, with an emphasis on 3D molecular structure. We combine two approaches: (1) Bottom-up: given the basic physics governing atomic interactions, use simulations to predict molecular behavior; (2) Top-down: given experimental data, use machine learning to predict molecular structures and properties. We collaborate closely with experimentalists and apply our methods to the discovery of safer, more effective drugs.

Bio Research and Scholarship
Research in the Du Bois laboratory spans reaction methods development, natural product synthesis, and chemical biology, and draws on expertise in molecular design, molecular recognition, and physical organic chemistry. An outstanding goal of our program has been to develop C?H bond functionalization processes as general methods for organic chemistry, and to demonstrate how such tools can impact the logic of chemical synthesis. A second area of interest focuses on the role of ion channels in electrical conduction and the specific involvement of channel subtypes in the sensation of pain. This work is enabled in part through the advent of small molecule modulators of channel function.
The Du Bois group has described new tactics for the selective conversion of saturated C?H to C?N and C?O bonds. These methods have general utility in synthesis, making possible the single-step incorporation of nitrogen and oxygen functional groups and thus simplifying the process of assembling complex molecules. To date, lab members have employed these versatile oxidation technologies to prepare natural products that include manzacidin A and C, agelastatin, tetrodotoxin, and saxitoxin. Detailed mechanistic studies of metal-catalyzed C?H functionalization reactions are performed in parallel with process development and chemical synthesis. These efforts ultimately give way to advances in catalyst design. A long-standing goal of this program is to identify robust catalyst systems that afford absolute control of reaction selectivity.
In a second program area, the Du Bois group is exploring voltage-gated ion channel structure and function using the tools of chemistry in combination with those of molecular biology, electrophysiology, microscopy and mass spectrometry. Much of this work has focused on studies of eukaryotic Na and Cl ion channels. The Du Bois lab is interested in understanding the biochemical mechanisms that underlie channel subtype regulation and how such processes may be altered following nerve injury. Small molecule toxins serve as lead compounds for the design of isoform-selective channel modulators, affinity reagents, and fluorescence imaging probes. Access to toxins and modified forms thereof (including saxitoxin, gonyautoxin, batrachotoxin, and veratridine) through de novo synthesis drives studies to elucidate toxin-receptor interactions and to develop new pharmacologic tools to study ion channel function in primary cells and murine pain models. -

Bio Seraina A. Dual is a postodoctoral fellow at the departments of Radiology at Stanford Medicine and Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, mentored by Prof. Doff McElHinney, Prof. Daniel Ennis, and Prof. Alison Marsden. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) in Mechanical Engineering, a master's degree at ETH Zurich in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in robotics and biomedical application with Prof. Roger Gassert, and her Dr. of science at ETH Zurich in Mechanical Engineering with Prof. Mirko Meboldt. During this time, she spent some time with Prof. Ellen Kuhl at Stanford University (BSc), with Prof. Theo Chee Leong at National University of Singapore (MSc), and with Prof. Christopher Hayward at the St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney (DSc). Her work focuses on developing dynamic systems, algorithms, and sensors inspired by her background in engineering and control methodology to either improve our pathophysiological understanding of disease or enable physiological interaction of patients with intelligent medical devices.

Florian Dubost

Bio My research objectives are focused on the development of artificial intelligence technologies for neurology research. My graduate training revolved around medical engineering and offered me a multidisciplinary advanced education in computer science, physics, mathematics, biology, and chemistry. As I was progressing towards the start of my PhD, I decided to develop my expertise in machine learning? a type of artificial intelligence?and neurology, working for example on the automatic classification of fMRI signals of the auditory cortex under the supervision of Dr. Takerkart during my studies in Centrale Marseille, France. In Germany, I strengthened my expertise in machine learning in Prof. Navab's chair and developed and published an automated method for the segmentation of medical images based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo. During my PhD in the Netherlands, I focused on deep learning and neurology and developed methods for weakly supervised learning, regression neural networks, and brain lesion detection and quantification from MRI. One of my major contribution is my work on the automated quantification and detection of enlarged perivascular spaces?a type of brain lesion related to cerebral small vessel disease. During my PhD, I visited Prof. Rost group at MGH, Harvard Medical School, to strengthen my expertise in neurology research, and developed and published deep learning registration methods for clinical brain MRI. I am now doing my postdoctoral training in Prof. Daniel Rubin's group at Stanford with the additional supervision of the neurologist Prof. Lee-Messer. I am developing deep learning methods to detect and predict seizures from EEG and video recordings of epileptic patients.
