Bio

Dr. Riley is a member of the Obstetric Anesthesia Division. He was the chief of the division for 12 years. His research interests focus on quality improvement and clinical questions relevant to obstetric anesthesia. He also has strong interest in international medicine. He is a board member and active clinician with the International Eye Institute and is active with Kybele (an international obstetric anesthesia outreach program),

I perform outcomes-based research in obstetrics investigating strategies to better prevent and treat patients with postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. I also have research interests in the use of point-of-care devices for investigating key changes in the maternal hematologic and hemostatic profiles that occur during the peripartum and postpartum periods.
