Anne Lynn S. Chang, MD
Professor of Dermatology
Clinical Focus
Cancer > Cutaneous (Dermatologic) Oncology, Dermatology, Skin Cancer, Geriatric dermatology, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, immunotherapy for non-melanoma skin cancer, clinical trials, non-melanoma skin cancer, skin longevity, acne rosacea, rosacea
Research Interests
My two main research interests are:
1) To better understand and treat patients with aggressive basal and squamous cell carcinomas
2) To better understand the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of healthy human skin aging and to translate these insights into better care of skin diseases enriched in older patients, particularly skin cancer and rosacea

James K. Chen
Jauch Professor and Professor of Chemical and Systems Biology, of Developmental Biology and of Chemistry
Research Interests
Our laboratory combines chemistry and developmental biology to investigate the molecular events that regulate embryonic patterning, tissue regeneration, and tumorigenesis. We are currently using genetic and small-molecule approaches to study the molecular mechanisms of Hedgehog signaling, and we are developing chemical technologies to perturb and observe the genetic programs that underlie vertebrate development.

Thiago Almeida Pereira
Instructor, Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine
Research Interests
My research focus on fibrosis pathogenesis, identifying key pathways for therapeutic intervention and biomarker discovery. I'm currently investigating the Hedgehog pathway in liver and lung fibrotic diseases, such as schistosomiasis mansoni, alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis B and C, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. I'm also investigating the role of tumor associated macrophages and cancer associated fibroblasts in liver and head and neck cancers.

Chris Garcia
Younger Family Professor and Professor of Structural Biology
Research Interests
Structural and functional studies of transmembrane receptor interactions with their ligands in systems relevant to human health and disease - primarily in immunity, infection, and neurobiology. We study these problems using protein engineering, structural, biochemical, and combinatorial biology approaches.

Anna L Gloyn
Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology) and of Genetics
Research Interests
Anna's current research projects are focused on the translation of genetic association signals for type 2 diabetes and glycaemic traits into cellular and molecular mechanisms for beta-cell dysfunction and diabetes. Her group uses a variety of complementary approaches, including human genetics, functional genomics, physiology and islet-biology to dissect out the molecular mechanisms driving disease pathogenesis.
